Abstract

Expanding Industry 5.0 introduces a more secure and connected landscape using the Internet of Things (IoT). In simple terms, Industry 5.0 is the human-centric stage of intelligent and connected systems where workers are supplemented with machines that come in overtake roles like monotonous tasks etc. which improves productivity drastically due to humans doing what they do best: think critically amongst other functions. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) provides numerous types of services in large-scale environments, including digital business management spaces and real-time production monitoring or machinery condition tracking. This chapter provides an extensive discussion of the various portions of Industry 5.0 in connection to IoT with a deep dive into smart manufacturing for fault detection and mechanical diagnosis and prognosis.
