Abstract

The manufacturing industrial sector in Indonesia in 2019 produced emissions of 137,040 Gg CO2e, an increase of 29.5% from the previous year. Meanwhile, electricity and heat production are the most significant contributors to CO2 emissions in Malaysia, at 39%. Meanwhile, in Thailand, the NDC has set a target for reducing emissions by 20-25% by 2030. The ASEAN Cooperation Action Plan in the Energy Sector in 2016-2025 sets a target of 35% of energy consumption. They are installed renewable. In Indonesia, the amount of renewable energy installed was only 14.8%, much lower than that of competing countries: Thailand (30.3%), Vietnam (55.8%), and Cambodia (54.8%). Various solutions are offered amidst the big ambitions of ASEAN countries to reduce carbon emissions and move towards NZE status. In general, two options are available, namely nature-based and technology-based solutions. Digitalization is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 35% over the next decade.
