Statement about Handbook of Research on Child and Adolescent Psychology Practices and Interventions:
"A child’s brain is plastic at an early age and can be adapted with drill practices and cognitive training programs. Research evidence has suggested that early identification of children and adolescents at risk for mental health issues or disabilities is a major prerequisite for intervention programs. This ensures that interventions, which aim to positively modify the natural history of these disorders, can start in the first weeks or months of life. Early screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of children and adolescents with mental health issues or disabilities can help to improve the quality of life and lessen the economic and social burden on the caregiver. Training of the parents or caregivers and teachers is essential for the sustainable rehabilitation of children and adolescents. A conducive environment for children and adolescents is effective not only for physical well-being but also for mental health. A multidisciplinary team can be helpful in dealing with most of the aspects of children and adolescents. Child sexual abuse, childhood trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, sibling rivalry, peer pressure, substance use, screen addiction, and cyberbullying are some of the major concerns in children and adolescents. Acceptance of the child’s present condition and strong coping strategies help parents to manage their negative emotions. Active involvement or engagement of the primary caregivers or parents in the intervention process of children and adolescents is essential for sustainable improvement. This book includes chapters from a multidisciplinary perspective and fetches contributions from practitioners, academicians, and researchers in the area of child and adolescent mental health. This book is organized into five sections consisting of 27 chapters. Section one covers nine chapters presenting an overview of psychosocial issues in children and adolescents. Section two also includes nine chapters dealing with various treatment approaches for children and adolescents. Section three covers three chapters highlighting the importance and role of family members in the intervention of children and adolescents. Section four includes four chapters on screen addiction in children and adolescents. The last section presents two chapters and explains various issues in clinical practice and certification of children and adolescents."
